Approved Indications for HBOT
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) can help in treating a variety of medical conditions involving compromised blood flow and oxygen deprivation. Using 100% oxygen, HBOT enhances the body’s ability to heal itself naturally. HBOT is an accepted treatment of the Federal Drug Administration. Usually, medical insurance will reimburse based on the FDA’s approval of a therapy.
Some FDA approved conditions are:
- Carbon monoxide poisoning
- Complications of radiation therapy
- Crush injuries
- Blood loss anemia
- Healing enhancement in selected problem wounds
- Gas gangrene
- Intracranial abscesses
- Necrotizing soft tissue infections
- Osteomyelitis (refractory)
- Skin grafts and flaps
- Thermal burns
See Who Can Benefit from HBOT? for other conditions that respond to HBOT.
